Guide for Large sports venues emergency lighting design

Introduction:

As a densely populated place, a large number of people gather in sports events and recreational activities. In dangerous situations, such as fires, it is especially important to ensure evacuation. Combined with the project of an Olympic sports hall (stadium, natatorium), this paper discusses the key points of emergency lighting design in large sports venues and the places that need attention in design.

Key words: stadium; Emergency lighting; Evacuation instructions;

  1. Design requirements for emergency lighting in sports venues

According to GB 50034-2013 “Architectural Lighting Design Standard”, emergency lighting is defined as: due to the failure of normal lighting power supply lighting. Emergency lighting includes evacuation lighting, safety lighting and backup lighting. In addition to meeting the requirements of GB 50016-2014 (2018 edition) “Code for Fire Protection of Building Design” Chapter 13, GB 51348-2019 “Standard for Electrical Design of Civil Buildings” 10. Section 4 and 13. In addition to the relevant requirements of GB 51309-2018 “Technical Standard for Fire Emergency Lighting and evacuation indicating System”, the contents of Chapter 9 of JGJ 354-2014 “Code for Electrical Design of Sports Buildings” for emergency lighting and auxiliary room lighting should also be met.

  1. Evacuation lighting design

Smoke-proof stairwells and their front rooms in sports venues. Evacuation lighting such as evacuation walkway, power distribution room, and control room shall be designed according to the relevant requirements of GB51309-2018, and attention shall be paid to the design according to the illumination requirements of densely populated places. Special attention should be paid to the following.

(1) Evacuation lighting design for tall space areas. For swimming pools and gymnasiums, the height above the competition venue is higher (about 20 m or more), and the evacuation lighting needs to be designed according to B-type lamps. In order to facilitate installation and maintenance, the installation method of lamps also needs to be combined with the horse track

Layout, illumination calculation after the layout. It should be noted that the competition area is large, the number of lamps is large, the power of B-type lamps is large, and the capacity of the centralized power supply of the field evacuation lighting may exceed 1 kW. According to the requirements of Article 3.3.8 of GB 51309-2018: When the rated output power of the centralized power supply is not greater than 1 kW, it can be set in the electrical shaft. Therefore, attention should be paid to the central power supply capacity of evacuation lighting in the site area and the principle of setting the box, such as the capacity of more than 1 kW needs to be located outside the electric well, or according to the building layout, it is located in the electric well on both sides of the site.

(2) The low-level illuminance value of the evacuation lighting ground at the exit of the stadium and its passageway and the off-site evacuation platform should not be less than 5 lx. In the current large sports buildings in China, in order to meet the function of sports events and the effect of the stands, it is common to use semi-outdoor spectator platform to evacuate the stands. The semi-outdoor spectator platform of the stadium is enclosed by a metal roof and a perforated curtain wall, and the lower side of the curtain wall is open

According to the irregular and high space above the semi-outdoor platform, the design adopts. Type A emergency lighting, wall mounted on the wall, the installation height is 3 m
