What is spot light?

When contacting LED equipment, we sometimes encounter two different devices, LED floodlights and LED floodlights. So what’s the difference between them? Please see the introduction below:

LED floodlight

LED floodlights are also called spotlights, spotlights, spotlights, etc., mainly used for architectural decoration lighting, as well as commercial space lighting, decorative components are heavier, its appearance is round and square, because generally have to consider the cause of heat dissipation, so its shape and traditional floodlights still have some differences.

LED Floodlight Classification:

  1. Rotational symmetry

The luminaire adopts a rotationally symmetric reflector, and the symmetry axis of the light source with a rotationally symmetric light distribution is installed along the reflector axis. The isointensity curve of such lamps is concentric circles. When this type of floodlight is illuminated by a single lamp, the elliptic spot is obtained on the illuminated surface, and the illuminance is uneven. However, when multiple lights are illuminated, the spots are superimposed on each other, which can produce satisfactory lighting effects. For example, hundreds of rotating symmetrical cast lights are commonly used in the stadium, which are installed on the high tower around the stadium to obtain high illumination and high uniformity lighting effects.

  1. Two symmetrical plane shapes

The isointensity curve of this type of floodlight has two symmetric planes. Most of the lamps use symmetrical cylindrical reflectors, and the linear light source is installed along the axis of the cylinder.

  1. A symmetrical plane shape

The isointensity curve of the luminaire has only one symmetrical plane (Figure 2). The luminaire consists of an asymmetrical cylindrical reflector or a symmetrical cylindrical reflector plus a light limiting grid. The most typical is the sharp block retraction distribution. This kind of light intensity distribution can obtain a satisfactory illuminance distribution with a single lamp.

  1. Asymmetric shape

The isointensity curve of this type of luminaire has no symmetrical plane. It is mainly mixed light lamps with different types of light sources with large differences in light intensity distribution and special lamps designed according to the specific lighting requirements of the use place.

LED floodlight features:

At present, the commonly used LED floodlight on the market is basically the selection of 1W high-power LED(each LED component will have a high-efficiency lens made of PMMA, its main function is the secondary distribution of light emitted by the LED, that is, secondary optics), there are a few companies because of the heat dissipation technology is handled well, and choose 3W or even higher power LED. Suitable for large occasions lighting, building lighting.
