The growth lamp is used to supplement the light for the planted plants in places where there is a lack of light, so as to reduce the photosynthesis of the plants that is affected by the weather, and cause the leaves to become sick in the growing environment. But for most growers, grow lights have a variety of spectrums. Is it better to choose full spectrum or red and blue light?
First of all, we need to know that red light can promote plant flowering and fruiting, and blue light can promote plant growth stems and leaves. This is a band range that is targeted for research based on the impact of the spectrum of sunlight on plants. LED growth lamp chips mainly include red light beads, blue light beads, and full-spectrum light beads. The main role of red light on plants is to adjust the photoperiod of plants and affect the flowering and results of plants. The main role of blue light is to affect the movement of leaves and plastids, promote the growth of stems and leaves, and inhibit the flowering and fruiting of plants to a certain extent.
There are only two spectrums of red light and blue light in the red and blue light, while the full-spectrum grow light simulates sunlight. The spectrum is the same as that of sunlight, and the light emitted is white light. Both of them have the effect of supplementing light to promote plant growth, but different crops should pay attention to choosing the most suitable one when choosing the spectrum.
For example, when planting lettuce, lettuce is a plant that uses stems and leaves for human use. The purpose is of course to choose a supplementary light scheme that stimulates the increase of stem and leaf quality and yield. The proportion of blue light beads in the LED growth lamp can be appropriately increased. Another example: Tomato planting, our purpose is to eat high-quality tomatoes that are big, round, healthy and green, that is, to stimulate their flowering and fruiting during the planting process. At this time, the ratio of LED plant lights to red lamp beads can be increase appropriately. The ratio of red and blue lamp beads for LED growth lights is roughly between red: blue = (6–9): 1. According to the needs and uses of different plants, choose different lamp bead ratios. Sometimes a small amount of green lamp beads are mixed into the LED plant light, and its main function is to adjust the comfort of the light and protect the naked eye.
For flowering and fruiting, crops and flowers that need to be colored, it is best to use red and blue plant lights, which can color, promote flowering, and increase yield. For leafy crops, full-spectrum plant lights can be used. Then if you grow plants at home, it is best to choose a full-spectrum plant light, because the red and blue light of the plant light is pink.
The choice of a full-spectrum grow light or a red and blue grow light depends on the plant’s spectral requirements, light efficiency, power, growth stage, cycle and other factors. It is most important to find a formula solution suitable for plants.
